Next-generation Thin-film Transistors with Novel Structure

Team: Taewon Seo, Suwon Seong, Hyung Min Ko, Juyoung Yun

Thin-film transistors (TFTs) are widely used in flat panel display and multifunctional sensor array for switching and amplification functions. As the resolution of each component increases for better performance, the available area for TFT fabrication is decreased significantly. A simple scaling with the current device structure has apparent limitations that short-channel effects occur at a certain dimension. Therefore, there is a significant demand for a new device architecture beyond the conventional planar TFTs. Our group studies novel TFT structures and materials processing to achieve large current density, fast switching speed, outstanding uniformity, and flexibility requirements.
